Mumbai man arrested for setting road on fire to film birthday reel

Mumbai, Apr 27: A 33-year-old automobile dealer has been arrested by the Mumbai Police after he allegedly poured petrol on a public road and set it ablaze to shoot a social media reel celebrating his birthday.

The incident came to light late on April 25 after journalists flagged it on social media, tagging the police and sharing images of the incident. Acting swiftly, a team from Goregaon Police Station reached the spot at Ram Mandir Road in Goregaon West around 12:05 am.

According to officials, the act of spreading an inflammable substance and igniting it in a public area posed a serious threat to public safety and could have endangered lives.

The accused has been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
