India U-17 women arrive in China for AFC Asian Cup after 21 years

Suzhou, Apr 28: The India Under-17 women’s football team has arrived in Suzhou to participate in the AFC Under-17 Women’s Asian Cup China 2026, marking their return to the tournament after a gap of 21 years.

The Young Tigresses held a preparatory camp in Gurugram ahead of the competition.

India have been placed in Group B and will begin their campaign against Australia on May 2. They will next face Japan on May 5 and Lebanon on May 8. All of India’s group-stage matches are scheduled to be played at the Suzhou Taihu Football Sports Centre.

The tournament format allows the top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed teams across the three groups, to advance to the quarter-finals. The four quarter-final winners will secure qualification for the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2026.
