Saina Crashes Out of All-England Championship


Birmingham, Mar 10 (IANS): Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal was knocked out of the women's singles quarterfinals at the All England Badminton Championships, losing to China's Xuerui Li 13-23, 21-23 here Friday.

Ranked seventh, Li took just 40 minutes to dispose of her Indian opponent to cruise through to the semi-finals of the competition.

Saina, World No.4, was outclassed by the Chinese in the first game as she could manage to win only three consecutive points. The second game was a much tighter affair, with both players exchanging the lead.

Saina, leading the second game 21-20, lost two consecutive points and crashed out of the tournament.
