Tehran, Apr 28: Iran has stepped up its diplomatic efforts as Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi travelled from Islamabad to Muscat on Saturday for talks with Omani officials, with a further visit to Russia expected as part of consultations aimed at ending the ongoing conflict.
Araghchi described his recent visit to Pakistan as “very fruitful,” stating that he had outlined Iran’s perspective on a “workable framework” to bring a lasting end to the war, which Tehran says was initiated by the United States and Israel on February 28. However, he expressed caution over Washington’s intentions, noting that it remains unclear whether the US is genuinely committed to diplomacy.

Despite speculation about possible negotiations, uncertainty continues to surround direct talks. Iranian state media indicated that no meeting with American officials was planned during the Islamabad visit, suggesting instead that Pakistan could act as an intermediary to convey Iran’s proposals.
Before departing, Araghchi emphasised that his regional tour—including stops in Islamabad, Muscat, and Moscow—was focused on strengthening coordination with partner nations on bilateral issues and discussing broader regional developments. He underscored that neighbouring countries remain a priority in Iran’s foreign policy approach.
Meanwhile, Ishaq Dar confirmed that Pakistan is playing a facilitative role in efforts to ease tensions between Iran and the US. He reiterated that Islamabad remains committed to supporting peace initiatives in the region and beyond.
Dar also cautioned against misinformation, stressing that only official statements should be considered reflective of Pakistan’s stance. Comments attributed to unnamed sources, whether in traditional media or online platforms, do not represent the country’s official policy, he added.
