Raut alleges Rs 100 crore scam in Mumbai PAP housing scheme, demands probe

Mumbai, Apr 28: Sanjay Raut on Tuesday alleged a Rs 100 crore scam in the rehabilitation process for project-affected persons (PAPs) in Mumbai, claiming misuse of official ministerial letterheads to allocate housing to ineligible beneficiaries.

Raut made the allegations in a letter addressed to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, which he also shared on social media platform X. He urged the state government to initiate strict action against those involved in alleged irregularities in the allotment of flats under rehabilitation schemes.

He specifically named Mumbai suburban joint guardian minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, alleging that recommendation letters issued in his name were being used to allot homes to “bogus beneficiaries,” thereby denying rightful housing to genuine project-affected families.

According to Raut, the government’s responsibility is to clear encroachments hindering development projects and ensure proper rehabilitation of affected citizens under the PAP scheme. However, he alleged that a “racket” was operating to divert flats to undeserving individuals through corrupt practices.

He further claimed that pressure was being exerted across multiple agencies, including the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA), Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), and Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority, to facilitate illegal allotments.

Raut also alleged that an organisation named “Sakal Hindu Samaj” was acting as an intermediary in the alleged irregularities.

He has demanded a thorough investigation into the matter and accountability for those involved in what he described as systematic misuse of the PAP rehabilitation process.
