Panaji, Apr 29: Vijai Sardesai, chief of the Goa Forward Party and Fatorda MLA, on Tuesday criticised the state government, saying Goa is “completely Ram bharose” (at God’s mercy).
Alleging lack of governance direction, Sardesai said there is “no vision, no policy, no roadmap,” and accused the government of focusing on issuing taxi permits and rent-a-cab permissions instead of addressing pressing concerns.
He said the current policies are creating chaos in the tourism sector, forcing conflicts between locals and outsiders while the industry continues to decline.

Highlighting economic concerns, Sardesai noted that people dependent on tourism are uncertain about their future, while rising inflation is adding to the burden on families. He alleged that the government has failed to present any concrete plan to safeguard livelihoods.
Targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party government, Sardesai further accused it of promoting divisive politics instead of focusing on job creation and development.
He alleged that attempts are being made to disturb Goa’s communal harmony and polarise voters.
Referring to religious sentiments, Sardesai said that insults to St Francis Xavier or Hindu deities would not be tolerated, asserting that Goans reject divisive politics and are aware of such tactics.
