Trump promotes “No Tax on Social Security” policy in Florida senior address

Daijiworld Media Network - Washington

Washington, May 2: US President Donald Trump addressed a large gathering of senior citizens in Florida, highlighting his administration’s decision to eliminate taxes on Social Security benefits as a key economic achievement ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.

Speaking at The Villages, one of the largest retirement communities in the United States, Trump said the policy ensures that millions of retirees now pay zero federal tax on their Social Security income. He described it as part of a broader tax overhaul he referred to as a major economic reform package.

He also claimed that more than 51 million seniors have benefited from what he called sweeping tax cuts, while contrasting his administration’s performance with that of former President Joe Biden, blaming the previous administration for inflation and economic strain.

Trump further stated that his government had removed hundreds of thousands of ineligible individuals from Social Security and Medicare systems, arguing that the measures were necessary to reduce fraud and protect entitlement programmes.

On healthcare policy, he said his administration had reduced prescription drug prices significantly and announced that weight-loss medications such as Ozempic and Wegovy would be available to Medicare recipients at reduced monthly costs starting July 1.

He also pointed to stock market performance and retirement savings growth, claiming that investment accounts and 401(k) plans had reached record levels under his leadership. Additionally, he highlighted increased tax refunds for seniors, saying the changes had improved financial stability and quality of life for retirees.

Supporters at the event echoed his claims, with attendees and guest speakers praising the policy for reducing tax burdens and improving household finances for older Americans.

Trump also reiterated his stance on national security, warning against nuclear proliferation and referencing recent military actions aimed at preventing adversaries from acquiring nuclear capabilities.

Concluding his remarks, he urged supporters to remain politically active ahead of the midterm elections, emphasizing the importance of voter turnout in shaping future policy directions.
