Mumbai, May 3: The trial in the alleged attempted murder case involving actor Salman Khan has begun before a special MCOCA court, with key witnesses recounting the events surrounding the firing outside his residence earlier this year.
A private security guard, who served as the actor’s personal protection officer for several years, told the court that the firing was a clear attempt to kill the actor. He deposed that he was present at Galaxy Apartments in Bandra (West) during the incident and rejected defence claims questioning his presence or credibility.

Describing the early hours of April 14, 2024, the witness said he was on night duty when he heard sounds resembling firecrackers around 4 a.m. He stated that upon checking CCTV footage, he saw two individuals on a motorcycle wearing helmets and firing multiple rounds toward the building. According to his testimony, four to five shots were discharged.
He further told the court that he and other security personnel immediately rushed outside the building after the firing. The assailants, he said, fled the scene towards the “I Love Bandra” point and then moved in the direction of Mehboob Studio Road.
The witness also noted that police security had been deployed at the residence due to previous threat calls allegedly linked to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. He said security personnel were stationed around the clock, with shifts during the day and night.
A second police security witness also testified, providing details consistent with the sequence of events. Both witnesses said they later found empty bullet shells and impact marks on the building walls, which were subsequently collected by investigating officers.
Police reportedly reached the scene within 30 to 45 minutes of the incident.
The court had earlier framed charges against five accused in connection with the case. The firing incident is alleged to have taken place from a moving motorcycle targeting the actor’s residence balcony.
