Tehran, May 5: Seyed Abbas Araghchi is set to arrive in Beijing on Tuesday as part of Iran’s ongoing diplomatic engagements with key global and regional partners.
During the visit, Araghchi will hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, with discussions expected to focus on bilateral relations as well as recent regional and international developments, according to Iranian media reports.
The China visit follows a series of diplomatic trips by Araghchi to Pakistan, Oman, and Russia, reflecting Tehran’s efforts to strengthen alliances amid ongoing tensions in West Asia.

On April 27, Araghchi met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Saint Petersburg, where Moscow reiterated its support for peace efforts in the Middle East. Putin reportedly assured that Russia would continue working toward outcomes that serve regional stability.
During the meeting, Araghchi conveyed greetings from Iran’s leadership, including Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian, and thanked Russia for its backing. He described Iran-Russia relations as a “strategic partnership” that would continue to deepen.
Prior to Russia, Araghchi visited Muscat, where he met Haitham bin Tariq. Discussions there focused on regional tensions following joint US-Israel strikes on Iran, with both sides emphasising dialogue and diplomacy as the path forward.
Oman reiterated its role in mediation efforts aimed at reducing tensions and achieving sustainable political solutions in the region.
Recent diplomatic activity comes after a brief ceasefire between Iran and the United States began on April 8, followed by talks on April 11–12 aimed at resolving the conflict. However, negotiations collapsed after nearly a day of discussions, underscoring the fragile nature of the current situation.
Araghchi’s visit to China is seen as part of broader efforts to consolidate international support and navigate the evolving geopolitical landscape.
