Mumbai, Mar 12:
Under the aegis of the metro-based Karnataka Sangh, Sadanand Suvarna endowment lecture and release of the book ‘Ranganubhuti’, Kannada collection of columns, was held at Karnataka Sangh auditorium, Matunga (West), on Saturday March 11.

Karnataka Sangh president Dr G D Joshi presided over the programme.

Renowned playwright and critic Dr K Mahalinga released ‘Ranganubhuti’, authored by Sadanand Suvarna and published by Suvarnagiri Prakashan, Bangalore, with the foreword by well-known litterateur Dr Vyasa Rao Ninjoor.

Dr Mahalinga, in his endowment lecture, said that drama should be the voice of the people. “Dramas can have different themes. The playwrights do not go beyond the stereotypes.  Although in the era of globalization the concept of international theater is being incorporated in dramas in Indian languages, Kannada theater is lacking in this regard.  It has better scope for being explored,” he added.

Harish K Hejmady, sub-editor of ‘Akshaya’, monthly bulletin, said that Ranganubhuti has the revelation of a stage director’s character, humorous, easy flow of language, and no waste of words.

Sadanand Suvarna said that the metro has everything, both good and bad.  “One can develop a strong character by choosing good.  Honest efforts are desired in Kannada theater in the metro,” he said and thanked the Karnataka Sangh for giving him a chance in this regard.

Karnataka Sangh honorary secretary Dr Bharat Kumar Polipu welcomed the gathering.  Treasurer Omdas Kannangar compered the programme.
