Berlin, May 10: In a closely contested Bundesliga fixture in Berlin, FC Bayern Munich secured a narrow 1-0 victory over VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday, with Michael Olise scoring the decisive second-half goal.
Wolfsburg started strongly, creating early chances and testing Bayern’s defence. Goalkeeper Jonas Urbig made key saves to deny Vinicius Souza and others as the home side pressed forward in the opening stages.
Bayern had a chance to take the lead in the first half when Harry Kane was awarded a penalty after a VAR review, but the forward slipped during his attempt and sent the shot wide, missing a crucial opportunity.

The breakthrough finally came in the 56th minute. Olise cut in from the right flank and curled a precise effort in off the underside of the crossbar, giving Bayern the lead after sustained pressure following the break.
Wolfsburg pushed for an equaliser late in the match and came close in the 89th minute when substitute Mattias Svanberg struck the post, narrowly missing what could have been a vital goal.
The result leaves Wolfsburg level on points with FC St. Pauli heading into a tense final-day relegation showdown. Wolfsburg currently sit 16th on goal difference, while St. Pauli are 17th, with both clubs on 26 points. Bottom-placed 1. FC Heidenheim remain in the mix on 23 points with a game in hand.
Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking acknowledged both his team’s competitiveness and the fine margins that decided the match, noting that Bayern’s quality often forces opponents into difficult phases.
Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, RB Leipzig secured UEFA Champions League qualification with a 2-1 win over St. Pauli, while VfB Stuttgart strengthened their top-four position with a 3-1 victory over Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
