Barcelona, May 11: FC Barcelona were crowned champions of the 2025–26 La Liga after a commanding 2-0 victory over arch-rivals Real Madrid CF at home, sealing the title in style and extending their dominance over the league table.

The result puts Barcelona 14 points clear at the top, confirming a second consecutive league triumph over Real Madrid in a season defined by consistency and decisive performances in key matches.

Real Madrid were hit by multiple setbacks before and during the match, with striker Kylian Mbappé ruled out due to a hamstring injury. Midfield disruption also affected the visitors, while defensive options were further reduced after Dean Huijsen was forced out during warm-up. Reports also suggested internal tensions involving Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni added to Madrid’s pre-match concerns.

Barcelona, meanwhile, made a flying start. Ferran Torres played a central role early on, creating pressure that led to a foul on Antonio Rüdiger inside the box. From the resulting opportunity, Marcus Rashford converted a powerful finish in the ninth minute to give the hosts the lead.

Just minutes later, Torres doubled the advantage in the 18th minute with a sharp finish after a clever backheel assist from Dani Olmo, putting Barcelona firmly in control of the contest.

Despite chances for a third goal before half-time, including opportunities for Rashford and Olmo, Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois kept his side in the game with several key saves.

In the second half, Real Madrid attempted to respond through Vinícius Júnior and Jude Bellingham, who briefly thought he had pulled one back before his goal was ruled out for offside. However, Barcelona goalkeeper Joan García and the defensive line held firm under pressure.

Late efforts from Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski were also denied by Courtois, but Barcelona maintained control to close out a memorable victory and officially secure the league title.

Following the win, Barcelona are set to celebrate their 2025–26 league triumph, along with their Super Cup success, with a city-wide parade through Barcelona, marking a season of domestic dominance and renewed success for the club.
