New Delhi, May 16: Aryaveer Dewan will headline India’s campaign at the upcoming Asian Junior Individual Squash Championships scheduled to be held in Panzhihua, China, from May 20 to 24, as the country looks to improve on its strong performance from the previous edition.

Dewan, who captured the boys’ U-17 title last year, will now compete in the U-19 category where he enters the tournament as the third seed. He will lead a 32-member Indian contingent participating across age groups ranging from U-11 to U-19.

India enjoyed a successful campaign at the previous championships, securing a total of seven medals, including two gold, two silver and three bronze medals. With multiple seeded players in this year’s competition, the team will be aiming for an even stronger finish.

In the boys’ division, India has several top contenders across categories. In the U-13 section, Abhyuday Arora and Amarya Bajaj have both been seeded 3/4, while Shresht Iyer enters the U-15 event as the second seed.

Alongside Dewan in the boys’ U-19 category will be Gurveer Singh, Yusha Nafees and Purav Rambhia.

India’s girls’ squad also features several highly rated players. Divyanshi Jain has been seeded second in the U-13 category, while Shanaya Parasrampuria holds a 3/4 seeding in the same division.

In the girls’ U-15 section, Aadya Budhia will represent India as a 3/4 seed, while Anika Dubey enters the U-17 draw with a similar ranking.

The U-19 girls’ lineup includes Unnati Tripathi, Eesha Shrivastava, Akanksha Gupta and Vyomika Khandelwal.
The Indian contingent will be assisted by officials Mekhala Srivastava, Surbhi Misra, Avinash Bhavnani and Saatvik Joshi during the continental tournament.

Blending experienced junior internationals with emerging talent, India will aim to leave a strong mark at one of Asia’s premier junior squash events and continue strengthening its presence in the sport across the continent.
