1) India Expands Ethanol Push with E30 Fuel Standards

India has taken another major step towards cleaner and energy-secure transportation by moving beyond the E20 fuel initiative. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has officially introduced new fuel standards under IS 19850:2026 for higher ethanol-petrol blends such as E22, E25, E27 and E30.
The move comes amid rising global crude oil uncertainties and India’s push toward alternative energy solutions. Higher ethanol blending can reduce oil imports, support farmers and lower carbon emissions. These standards are designed for petrol-powered vehicles using positive ignition engines.
