Srinagar, May 25: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday carried out coordinated raids at multiple locations across Kashmir as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged terror-related activities and anti-national networks, official sources said.
Search operations were conducted in several areas of Srinagar and Shopian districts, with agencies continuing their crackdown on individuals and institutions suspected of links to unlawful activities.
According to sources, one of the raids was carried out at Jamia Siraj Ul Uloom in Imamsahib, an institution that had earlier been banned by the Centre over alleged terror associations and anti-national activities.

Another team of investigators searched the residence of former Jamaat-e-Islami chief Shahzada Aurangzeb in the Molu Chitragam area of Shopian district, officials added.
The operations were conducted jointly by the NIA, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), ensuring multi-agency coordination during the searches.
Officials said the raids are part of a wider investigation, although they have not disclosed specific details regarding the case or confirmed whether any arrests or detentions were made during the operation.
In February 2024, the Government of India extended the ban on ‘Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu Kashmir’ for another five years, declaring it an unlawful association under provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
The organisation, founded in 1941, has long been under the scanner of security agencies, which have accused it of promoting separatist ideology and engaging in activities linked to terrorism and anti-India propaganda in the Union Territory.
Earlier, the Centre had first imposed a ban on the group in February 2019, ahead of the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said Monday’s raids are part of continued efforts to investigate and dismantle networks suspected of supporting or facilitating unlawful activities in the region.
