Jerusalem, May 26: The Israel Defence Forces (Israel Defense Forces) on Tuesday issued an evacuation warning for residents of Nabatiyeh in southern Lebanon, citing alleged violations of the ceasefire by Hezbollah.
Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee announced on social media platform X that residents of Nabatiyeh must immediately move north of the Zahrani River, warning that staying in the area could put civilians at risk.
He stated that the military would act “forcefully” against what he described as Hezbollah’s breach of the ceasefire agreement, while emphasizing that civilians were not the intended targets.

The warning instructed residents to evacuate their homes and avoid areas near Hezbollah positions, infrastructure, and weapons facilities, which Israel says are being used for military activity.
Earlier, the IDF had issued similar evacuation alerts for several villages in southern Lebanon, including Mefdon, Shukin, Yahmar, Arnoun, Zoter Sharqiya, Zoter Gharbiya, and Kafr Tibnit, urging civilians to stay at least 1,000 meters away from designated zones.
Following those warnings, Israeli forces carried out strikes on structures in those areas, claiming they were being used by Hezbollah to plan and execute attacks against Israeli targets.
Israeli Chief of the General Staff Eyal Zamir said on Sunday that operations against Hezbollah would continue “across all dimensions” in Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a security meeting in Tel Aviv with Defence Minister Israel Katz and senior military officials to assess the situation.
Despite a ceasefire announcement in April, Israel has continued operations in southern Lebanon, stating that its actions are aimed at Hezbollah positions and operatives.
Diplomatic efforts are also underway, with US officials indicating that political talks between Israel and Lebanon are expected to resume at the US State Department on June 2–3, while parallel military discussions are scheduled to take place at the Pentagon starting May 29.
