Panaji, May 29: Tension erupted near the KTC bus stand in Margao after a violent clash allegedly involving rival groups left a 17-year-old boy injured during the early hours of Friday.

According to police officials, the incident took place around 4.30 a.m. and is suspected to be linked to individuals associated with the earlier Mungul gang rivalry case.

The Fatorda Police Station has registered a case of gang assault in connection with the attack.

The complaint was lodged by 19-year-old Shadaf Mulla, a resident of Gogol Housing Board in Margao and elder brother of the injured teenager.

Police said the accused allegedly formed an unlawful assembly and attacked the minor by slapping and punching him, resulting in simple injuries. The assailants also allegedly threatened the victim with serious consequences due to previous enmity between the groups.

The accused have been identified as Prakash Velma from Nessai, Shlok Shinde (22), Maifuz Sayyad (21), Sunil Bilwar (20), and Akshay Talwar.

Police confirmed that four accused have been arrested, while one suspect is currently absconding.

A case has been registered under Crime No. 30/2026 at Fatorda Police Station under Sections 191(2), 115(2), and 118(1) read with Section 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with provisions of Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act, 2003.
