Tehran, Jun 8: Israel has carried out fresh strikes on multiple targets within Iran's petrochemical complex in Mahshahr, marking another escalation in the ongoing confrontation between the two countries amid rising regional tensions.
According to reports, the strikes targeted facilities linked to Iran's petrochemical and industrial infrastructure in Mahshahr, located in the southwestern province of Khuzestan. Explosions were reported in the area as Israeli forces continued attacks on what they described as strategic assets connected to Iran's military capabilities.
The latest operation comes a day after Iran launched missiles towards Israel in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes on Beirut's southern suburbs. The exchange has further strained efforts to de-escalate tensions and revive diplomatic negotiations between Tehran and Washington.

Mahshahr is one of Iran's key petrochemical hubs and has previously been targeted by Israeli strikes. Israeli officials have alleged that certain facilities in the complex are involved in producing materials used in explosives and ballistic missile programmes, although Iranian authorities maintain that the installations are part of the country's civilian industrial infrastructure.
The renewed attacks come despite appeals by US President Donald Trump for restraint. Trump has urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to avoid actions that could jeopardise ongoing diplomatic efforts with Iran.
The conflict has already rattled global energy markets, with crude oil prices climbing sharply amid fears of disruptions to supplies and shipping through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian authorities have not yet released an official assessment of casualties or the extent of damage caused by the latest strikes.
