Tehran, Jun 8: Iran has suspended operations at airports in Tehran after fresh exchanges of attacks with Israel, while the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for strikes targeting an Israeli chemical facility, marking a sharp escalation in tensions between the two countries.

According to reports, Tehran's Mehrabad Airport halted flights amid the growing conflict, with Iranian authorities taking precautionary measures following Israeli strikes on targets inside Iran. Explosions were reported in several parts of the country as Israel carried out retaliatory attacks, including strikes on the Karun petrochemical complex in Mahshahr.

The IRGC said it had launched retaliatory missile strikes against Israel and claimed to have targeted a chemical and industrial facility in northern Israel. Reports indicated that Iran's missile attacks were part of a broader response to Israeli military actions in Lebanon and Iran.

The latest confrontation comes after Iran fired ballistic missiles at Israel following Israeli strikes on Beirut's southern suburbs. Israel subsequently launched attacks on multiple locations in Iran, including energy-related infrastructure, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.

The renewed hostilities have also heightened concerns over global energy supplies and shipping routes, with oil prices surging as markets reacted to the escalating crisis.

International leaders have called for restraint and a return to diplomacy, amid fears that the latest exchange of attacks could derail ongoing efforts to maintain a fragile ceasefire and prevent a broader war in the Middle East.
