New Delhi, Jun 10: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi has appealed to Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu to accelerate the investigation into the Air India Flight AI-171 crash and ensure that the final report is made public without further delay. Her request comes as the families of the victims continue to await answers nearly a year after the devastating accident.
In a letter addressed to the minister, Chaturvedi emphasized the emotional burden still carried by the families of those who lost their lives in the crash. With the first anniversary of the tragedy approaching, she stressed the importance of transparency and timely communication regarding the status of the investigation.

She noted that as June 12 marks one year since the accident that claimed 260 lives, many bereaved families remain anxious for the official conclusions of the probe. According to Chaturvedi, the prolonged wait for definitive findings has deepened their sense of uncertainty and grief.
Highlighting the determination of the victims’ relatives to uncover the truth, she referred to the efforts of the 92-year-old father of the late Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, who has continued to seek clarity about the circumstances that led to the crash. She said his persistence reflects the broader struggle of affected families who are searching not only for information but also for meaningful closure based on a credible and impartial investigation.
Chaturvedi stated that the anniversary of the tragedy presents an appropriate moment for authorities to update the public on the progress of the inquiry and reassure families that every effort is being made to establish the facts and identify lessons that could help prevent similar incidents in the future.
Calling for the minister’s direct intervention, she urged him to personally oversee the matter and facilitate the early publication of the investigation report. She argued that the families of the 260 victims deserve both justice and answers, adding that releasing the final findings promptly would help restore public trust and provide much-needed closure to those still grieving.
The Air India Flight AI-171 crash, which occurred on June 12 last year, remains under investigation, with the final report yet to be released despite the passage of nearly a year since the tragedy.
