Tel Aviv, Jun 11: A 25-year-old man from Tel Aviv was arrested by Israeli police on Wednesday on suspicion of violating the privacy of a social media influencer and was later questioned in connection with a separate rape allegation filed by another woman.

According to police, officers from the Lev Tel Aviv police station arrested the suspect following a complaint lodged by influencer Shir Weiss. Weiss alleged that while she was trying on clothes at a Bershka store in TLV Mall, the suspect peered into her fitting room and photographed her without consent.

Police launched an investigation after receiving the complaint and conducted a covert inquiry that reportedly uncovered evidence linking the suspect to the alleged offence. A court subsequently authorised the publication of the suspect’s photograph to help establish his identity and locate him.

Following the release of the photograph, another woman in her twenties approached police and filed a separate complaint, alleging that the suspect had raped her in recent days.

Authorities said the two complaints are unrelated and involve different complainants.

The suspect was questioned overnight regarding both allegations and remains in custody. Police said he is expected to be produced before the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court, where investigators will seek an extension of his detention to continue the probe.

According to local reports, the suspect has no known prior criminal record but is familiar within Tel Aviv’s nightlife scene through his work.

Police stressed that the investigation remains ongoing and appealed to the public for any information that could assist investigators.

No charges have been filed at this stage, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
