Bangladesh reports over 1,000 new suspected measles cases, one death

Dhaka, Jun 17: Bangladesh recorded 1,006 new suspected measles cases and one additional death in the 24-hour period ending Tuesday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The health authority said the latest suspected measles cases and death were reported between 8 a.m. on Monday and 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

With the latest update, the total number of suspected measles cases reported across the country since the outbreak began in mid-March has risen to 87,929.

The suspected death toll linked to the outbreak has also increased to 564, health officials said.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and have urged the public to follow health advisories and ensure timely vaccination to help contain the spread of the disease.
