Vancouver, Jun 22: Egypt registered their first-ever FIFA World Cup victory after defeating New Zealand 3-1 in their Group G encounter in Vancouver on Monday.
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah scored his first goal of the tournament as Egypt produced a memorable performance to claim all three points. With the win, Egypt moved to the top of Group G standings.
In another Group H clash, Cape Verde held Uruguay to a 2-2 draw in Florida, while Iran and Belgium played out a goalless draw in their Group G match in California.

Belgium were reduced to 10 players in the 66th minute after Nathan Ngoy was shown a red card for a foul on Mehdi Taremi. However, Iran failed to take advantage of the numerical advantage as the match ended without goals.
Earlier, Spain secured their place in the next round with a convincing 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia in their Group H clash in Atlanta. Spain have collected four points from two matches, while Saudi Arabia remain on one point.
In the upcoming fixture, defending champions Argentina will face Austria in Group J. The match is scheduled to begin at 10.30 pm IST.
