Brahmavar: Two held for allegedly kidnapping Class 9 student, forcing him into labour in Kerala

Brahmavar, Jul 2: Brahmavar police have arrested two persons in connection with the alleged kidnapping, assault, criminal intimidation and forced labour of a Class 9 student from Brahmavar.

According to the police complaint, the complainant, Taresh (38), a resident of Matpady village in Brahmavar, alleged that his minor son, Tilak, a Class 9 student of Government Board High School, Brahmavar, was abducted from the Brahmavar bus stand at around 8.30 am on June 1, 2026.

The accused allegedly took the minor to a wood company at Kunjathur Padavu in Talapady, Kerala, where he was forced to work. Police said that despite the boy repeatedly expressing his desire to return home, he was allegedly prevented from leaving.

On June 9, at around 1.30 pm, while the boy was staying in accommodation provided there, one of the accused, Suchith, allegedly assaulted him with a wire. Another accused, Vikhyath, allegedly threatened him with a knife, warning that he would be killed if he disclosed the incident to anyone. The accused also allegedly abused the minor using derogatory language, while a third accused, identified as Mustaq, allegedly recorded the incident on a mobile phone.

Based on the complaint, Brahmavar police have registered a case.

The arrested accused have been identified as Vikhyath Acharya (19), a resident near Kumara Chavadi Temple, Salikeri, Waramballi village, Brahmavar taluk, and Suchith Nayak (20), a resident near Jumma Masjid, Matpady village, Brahmavar taluk.

Both have been taken into custody and will be produced before the jurisdictional court. The third accused is a juvenile and has been produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
