Doha: Tulukoota Qatar AGM held, Vijay Kumbra elected unopposed as president

Doha, Jul 11: The prestigious Tulukoota Qatar, an affiliate of the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) under the Embassy of India in Qatar, has unanimously elected Vijay Kumbra as its president for the 2026–2028 term.

The announcement was made during the annual general meeting (AGM) held on July 3 at the ICC Qatar Hall, where the new executive committee was formally declared.

Tulukoota Qatar, which recently celebrated its silver jubilee in grand style, is widely regarded as one of the most active and model Indian community organizations in Qatar. Over the past 26 years, the association has continuously contributed to the promotion of Tulu language, culture, heritage, sports, and social service activities, earning strong goodwill and trust within the community.

President Sandesh Anand warmly welcomed members and presented a comprehensive overview of the organisation’s activities over the past two years. He expressed gratitude to all volunteers, sponsors, and members for their continued support.

On this occasion, mementos were presented to outgoing executive committee members including Vijay Kumbra, Pravina Prakash Shetty, Jeevan Prakash, Divyashree, Vijaya Shetty, Sourabh Shetty, Prashanth Gowda, Niyaaz, Mohan Rao, and Jerald D'Mello.

Advisory committee members including chairman Kiran Anand, along with members Asmat Ali and Chaitali Shetty, were also honoured.

On behalf of the entire Tulukoota family, the advisors felicitated president Sandesh Anand in recognition of his exemplary leadership and his outstanding efforts in making the silver jubilee celebrations a grand success. He was honoured with a memento as a token of appreciation for his dedicated service to the organization.

The secretary Pravina Prakash Shetty presented the activity report covering the previous AGM minutes and a detailed review of the association’s work over the last two years. Treasurer Jeevan Prakash presented the financial statements, which were approved by the members.

Election officer, former ICC president and senior member Milan Arun, officially dissolved the outgoing committee and announced the new executive body.

Vijay Kumbra was elected unopposed as president for 2026–2028.

In his acceptance speech, president-elect Vijay Kumbra expressed his commitment to taking Tulukoota Qatar to greater heights with the continued guidance, cooperation, and support of its members.

The AGM was attended by founding member Krishna Shetty, senior member and sponsor Chidananda Naik of M Pallonji, former ICC president and senior member Milan Arun, senior member & ICBF general secretary Deepak Shetty, member and president of Billawas Qatar Aparna Sharath, advisory committee members Kiran Anand, Asmat Ali and Chaitali Uday Shetty and several dignitaries.

Senior members present included Abdulla Monu, Roshan Shetty, Padmashree Shetty, Shridhar Nayak, Manoj Shetty, Sunil Bhandary, Anil Shetty, Dhananjay Rai, Chandrashekar Shetty Pejawar, Satish Amin, Chaitali Suhas Shetty, Sagar Kotian and many other members.

Umesh Acharya and Manoj Acharya contributed with photography and videography coverage.

The event was efficiently anchored by Pravina Prakash Shetty, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Sourabh Shetty.
