London, Jul 12: Linda Noskova captured her first Wimbledon women's singles title after defeating fellow Czech Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 in a hard-fought all-Czech final on Centre Court on Saturday.

The ninth seed produced a composed performance to secure the biggest title of her career, recovering from a second-set setback to clinch her maiden Grand Slam crown in a contest lasting just over two hours.

Noskova's powerful serving proved decisive as she struck 10 aces compared to Muchova's six. She also enjoyed a marginal advantage in first-serve percentage and won 74 per cent of points on her first serve, while converting four of her 13 break-point opportunities.

After dominating the opening set 6-2, the 21-year-old appeared on course for a straightforward victory when she moved 5-2 ahead in the second set. However, Muchova mounted an impressive comeback, winning five consecutive games to take the set 7-5 and force a decider.

Noskova responded strongly in the final set, dictating play from the baseline and maintaining her composure during the crucial moments to regain control of the match. She eventually converted her sixth championship point to seal the victory.

The champion finished the match with 109 points to Muchova's 92 and won 17 games overall, highlighting her consistency throughout the final.

The triumph makes Noskova the youngest Wimbledon women's singles champion since her compatriot and childhood idol Petra Kvitova, who won the first of her two Wimbledon titles in 2011 and watched Saturday's final from the Royal Box.

Noskova also became only the second Czech woman after Kvitova to win the Wimbledon title in her first Grand Slam final appearance.

The victory is expected to lift Noskova to a career-high world ranking of No. 7 when the updated WTA rankings are released. Meanwhile, Muchova finished runner-up after another impressive run at the All England Club.
