Kasargod, Jul 15: CCTV footage of a horrific road accident that occurred at Karandakkad Junction has surfaced, highlighting the sheer intensity of the crash. An Innova car lost control, overturned multiple times, and rolled for nearly 300 metres, but the passengers miraculously escaped death as the vehicle's airbags deployed in the nick of time.
The accident took place at midnight on Sunday. The Innova car was heading towards Karandakkad Junction from the direction of Mangaluru when another car suddenly emerged from the Madhur side. In a desperate bid to avoid a collision, the Innova driver swerved sharply. This caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, which then flipped over multiple times and rolled down the road for a considerable distance.
The entire sequence of events was captured by a nearby CCTV camera, showing the speeding car turning turtle within seconds. The video has since gone viral on social media platforms. Despite the high impact and severe damage to the vehicle, the timely deployment of the safety airbags saved the occupants from fatal injuries. The passengers sustained minor injuries and have been admitted to a local hospital for treatment.
The Kasargod police visited the spot to conduct an inspection and have initiated an investigation into the circumstances of the accident based on the retrieved CCTV footage.
