Kasargod: Woman dies after drowning in temple pond near Kumbla

Kasargod, Jul 17: A 48-year-old woman died after drowning in a pond at Mujungavu near Kumbla on Thursday, July 16.

The deceased has been identified as M Sunitha, wife of Ramakrishna, residing near Edanad Bank in Seethangoli.

According to family members, Sunitha went to sleep as usual on Wednesday night. However, when the family woke up on Thursday morning, she was missing from the house. Despite a frantic search in the surrounding areas, she could not be found, prompting the family to lodge a missing person's complaint with the Kumbla police.

As the police launched an investigation into her disappearance, a body was spotted floating in a pond near the Mujungavu temple on Thursday evening. Fire and rescue services personnel rushed to the spot and retrieved the body from the water.

The body was later shifted to the Kasargod General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The Kumbla police are investigating the incident.
