Udupi, Jul 19: Udupi police have arrested three persons for allegedly possessing and selling MDMA powder, hydro ganja, and MDMA tablets in Udupi, Kaup, Manipal, and Karkala. Narcotic substances and other property, including a car, worth approximately Rs 3,31,500 were seized during the operation.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Udupi sub-division deputy superintendent of Police Belliyappa K U and led by Malpe Police Inspector Ramachandra Nayak. Acting on credible information that the accused were in possession of narcotic substances and were selling them to the public from a location in Shivalli village, the police conducted a raid and apprehended the suspects.

The arrested have been identified as Vijaya Poojary (36) of Pithrody, Udyavara, P A Mohammed Sammas (24) of Harjiddu, Kukkundoor, and Akash Shetty (20) of Kuntibailu, Miyaru, Karkala.

During the raid, police seized 4 grams of MDMA powder, 2.5 grams of hydro ganja, 3.65 grams of MDMA tablets, 3 grams of Ganja, a car allegedly used for transporting the narcotic substances, and other related items. The total value of the seized property is estimated at Rs 3,31,500.

A case has been registered at the Udupi Town Police Station under Crime No. 95/2026 for offences punishable under Sections 8(c), 20(c), and 22(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The accused are being produced before the court for further legal proceedings.

The successful operation was carried out by a special team comprising PSI Mahesh T M of Udupi Traffic Police Station, Praveen Kumar of the Cyber Crime Police Station, Praveen Shettigar of Hiriyadka Police Station, and personnel including Indresh, Hanumanth Aski, Manu Kumar, Rashmi Hegde, Ravi Kumar, Srinivas, Santosh, and Dinesh.
