Panaji, Jul 20: A four-vehicle collision on the Bambolim flyover brought traffic to a standstill on Sunday afternoon after a Hyundai i20 overturned and landed on top of another car, creating a dramatic scene and disrupting traffic in both directions.
The accident occurred near the Shantadurga Temple end of the flyover, police said.
According to the preliminary investigation, the Hyundai i20, driven by Anup Govekar of Porvorim, changed lanes when it was struck from behind by a Mahindra Scorpio. The impact forced the i20 into the crash barrier, causing it to overturn before landing on top of a Mahindra KUV.

The Scorpio then skidded across the road and crashed into a Renault Kwid, resulting in a four-vehicle pile-up.
The vehicles involved in the accident were identified as a Mahindra KUV (GA-07-K-8423), Renault Kwid (GA-06-F-7285), Hyundai i20 (GA-03-M-6606) and Mahindra Scorpio (KA-19-ME-6411).
The overturned Hyundai resting precariously on the Mahindra KUV drew the attention of commuters as police and emergency responders worked to clear the wreckage. Traffic remained blocked for a considerable time, with long queues of vehicles forming on the busy flyover.
Govekar sustained minor injuries in the accident and was discharged after receiving treatment. No other serious injuries were reported.
Police registered a motor vehicle accident case and deployed additional personnel to regulate traffic while the damaged vehicles were removed from the carriageway.
The incident once again highlighted the dangers of sudden lane changes on high-speed flyovers, although the unusual sight of an overturned car perched atop another vehicle left many motorists stunned.
