Los Angeles, Jul 22: Nearly a decade after the release of the Oscar-winning musical La La Land, Lionsgate has unveiled an updated version of the film's iconic poster, finally correcting actor Ryan Gosling's much-discussed hand placement.

The redesigned poster, released ahead of the film's 10th anniversary, reflects the pose Gosling had originally wanted during the dance sequence with co-star Emma Stone.

Speaking to The Wall Street Journal last year, Gosling recalled that while filming the scene, the actors were supposed to keep their hands raised in a particular position. However, he decided to flatten his hand, believing it looked better despite being advised otherwise.

"I thought it would be cool to put my hand more flat even though everyone told me it wasn't cool," Gosling had said, later admitting that he regretted the decision. He jokingly referred to the awkward pose as "La La Hand", saying it took away from the energy of the image.

Sharing the revised artwork on Instagram, Lionsgate simply captioned the post: "A minor adjustment."

The updated poster sparked amusement among fans, many celebrating the long-awaited correction with humorous reactions on social media. Several users joked that Gosling would finally be happy after waiting nearly 10 years for the change.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, La La Land will return to theatres from August 16, with special screenings in Dolby Cinema at AMC Theatres.

Directed by Damien Chazelle, the romantic musical won six Academy Awards, including Best Director and Best Cinematography, and swept the Golden Globe Awards with a record seven wins. The film earned over USD 447 million worldwide against a production budget of USD 30 million.

Released in December 2016, La La Land starred Ryan Gosling as jazz pianist Sebastian and Emma Stone as aspiring actress Mia, with Gosling also winning a Golden Globe for his performance. A Broadway adaptation of the acclaimed film is currently in development.
