Rusted roof at Margao's Nehru Stadium raises safety concerns during monsoon

Daijiworld Media Network – Margao

Margao, Jul 22: The deteriorating condition of the roofing at Nehru Stadium in Margao has sparked safety concerns, with rusted and damaged sheets above Gate No. 8 posing a potential hazard during the ongoing monsoon season.

Several roofing sheets in the affected section are visibly rusted, broken and partially detached, raising fears that even moderate winds could dislodge parts of the structure.

The poor condition of the roof has highlighted the apparent lack of timely maintenance and repair at the stadium, with locals expressing concern over the risk posed to pedestrians and commuters passing through the area.

With heavy rains and strong winds continuing across Goa, there are apprehensions that the damaged roofing sheets could be blown away, potentially leading to accidents.

Residents have urged the concerned authorities to carry out an immediate inspection and undertake necessary repair work to ensure public safety and prevent any untoward incident during the monsoon.
