Mumbai, Jul 22: Actress Mouni Roy has been roped in to play the lead in an upcoming untitled romantic film directed by veteran filmmaker Suresh Krissna and produced by Prerna Arora.
The project marks Suresh Krissna's return to the romance genre with a contemporary love story set against the backdrop of the social media era.
Sharing her excitement about the collaboration, producer Prerna Arora said she was immediately drawn to the film after hearing the director's vision.
"Suresh sir has always been one of my favourite filmmakers. The moment he narrated the story, I knew I wanted to produce it. It's a youthful love story with a relatable narrative set in today's social media-driven world, and I believe audiences will connect with it," she said.
Speaking about the casting, Suresh Krissna said the film required an actress capable of portraying the emotional depth of the central character with authenticity and elegance.
"We were looking for someone who could bring grace, beauty and emotional strength to the role. Mouni Roy was the natural choice. She is a gifted performer with remarkable screen presence. She loved the script and agreed to be part of the film immediately. Her addition has brought a completely new dimension to the project," the director said.
Prerna Arora revealed that discussions with Mouni had begun after their association on Jatadhaara.
"After Jatadhaara, Mouni and I had spoken about working together again. When we narrated this script, she instantly connected with it and came on board without hesitation. There are many exciting surprises still to be revealed, and this announcement is only the beginning," she said.
Meanwhile, Mouni recently made headlines after an interaction with paparazzi in Mumbai. The actress appeared visibly annoyed after photographers continued filming her as she was leaving a dinner outing with friends.
Videos circulating online showed Mouni, dressed in a sleeveless black outfit with her hair left open, repeatedly asking photographers to stop recording her through the car window.
Pointing towards the cameras, she firmly told them, "Band karo" (Stop it), while requesting them several times to stop filming before her car departed.
The actress had been out for dinner with close friends Anusha Dandekar and Arjun Bijlani, who were also seen greeting each other warmly outside the restaurant before the gathering.
