Sullia, July 22: Police have recovered five stolen vehicle batteries in connection with a theft case registered at Sullia police station, after taking custody of a Kerala-based accused who was already facing multiple cases under Vittal police station limits.
The case dates back to the night of May 14, 2026, when five batteries from three vehicles were allegedly stolen within the jurisdiction of Sullia police station. Following a complaint, Sullia police registered a case under Crime No. 68/2026 invoking Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and launched an investigation.

During the course of the probe, police identified the accused as Abdul Majeed (33), a resident of Kasaragod, Kerala. The accused was already in judicial custody in connection with five separate cases registered at Vithla police station — Crime Nos. 38/2025, 39/2026, 41/2026, 123/2026 and 126/2026.
On July 20, 2026, police secured Abdul Majeed’s custody for further questioning in the Sullia theft case.
During interrogation, the accused reportedly admitted to stealing the five batteries from vehicles within the Sullia police station limits.
Following the investigation, police recovered the stolen five batteries allegedly linked to the case.
