Mangaluru, Jul 23: Kumble Brothers, in association with Lions Club Mangalore, will present Suhana Safar and Rimjhim Gire Saawan, a musical evening celebrating evergreen Hindi film melodies, on Sunday, July 26, at Sujir C V Nayak Hall (A/C Hall), Kadri Road, Mangaluru.
Former Karnataka MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik will inaugurate the event. The chief guests will include Walter Nandalike, founder and editor-in-chief of Daijiworld media, and Ln Kudpi Aravind Shenoy, immediate past district governor of Lions District 317D. The guests of honour will include Prakash R Prabhu, managing director - City Bake Industries; Balakrishna Shetty, manager – Winzetta Pharma; Dr Kumble Ananth Prabhu, professor of surgery - Yenepoya Medical College; Rathish P Nair, deputy general manager – IDBI Bank; Showkath Showry, managing director – Blueline Foods Pvt Ltd; Rajesh Shetty, general manager – Cauvery TATA; Mohammed Saleem Kumble, co-founder & CEO – Soult Digital Pvt Ltd; Vignesh Prabhu, CEO – Kumble Group; Sampath Shetty, managing director – Lotus Properties; and M Raghavendra Kudva, director – RVK Steel and Alloys.
The organisers said Suhana Safar is a musical initiative promoted by senior citizens Dr Kumble Ananth Prabhu, Kumble Narasimha Prabhu, chairman of Kumble Group, with the aim of popularising classic Hindi film songs. They organise the programme without any professional charges or profit motive, with a mission to spread happiness and peace of mind among senior citizens and music lovers while supporting the needy through music.
As part of this year's event, the organisers will donate Rs 25,000 to two charitable trusts and provide medical aid to a needy student.
The programme marks the 10th edition of Suhana Safar and will feature popular Hindi film songs from 1955 to 1985, including rain-themed melodies under the ‘Rimjhim Gire Saawan’ segment. The event will also pay tribute to legendary singers Suman Kalyanpur and S Janaki.
Dr Kumble Ananth Prabhu, winner of the Senior Category title at Eternal Voice of Doctors Worldwide Season 2, and Malini Keshav Prasad, jury member of Zee Kannada's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, will lead the performances along with other singers. The programme will be hosted by Kumble Narasimha Prabhu, while live music will be provided by Deepak and troupe from Bengaluru. Singer Lalithya M Anvekar from Bengaluru will be a special attraction.
The organisers said the previous edition, held on May 30, attracted nearly 550 Lions members, senior citizens and music enthusiasts, and a similar response is expected this year. Entry is by pass only, and passes are available through Kumble Narasimha Prabhu (9845081897), Lion Seva Mandir at Kadri-Mallikatte, and C V Nayak Hall.
