Sullia: Former GP chief dies after collapsing during cooperative bank meeting

Sullia, July 25: A former grama panchayat president died after he collapsed while addressing a general body meeting of a cooperative bank at Sampaje on Saturday, July 25.

The deceased has been identified as Adam Kunja Santyar (62), former president of Chembe grama panchayat and former president of Sampaje Payaswini Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Society.

The incident took place during the general body meeting of the Payaswini Cooperative Bank held at Sampaje. Santyar was speaking at the meeting when he reportedly suffered a heart attack and collapsed on the spot.

Those present immediately rushed him to a private hospital in Sullia for medical treatment. However, despite efforts by doctors, he died after the treatment failed to save him.

Santyar’s death has left members of the cooperative society and local residents in shock.
