Mangaluru, Jul 26: The CISF personnel deployed at Mangaluru International Airport displayed commendable alertness and professionalism by tracing and returning an unattended pouch containing valuables worth several lacs of rupees to a passenger on Sunday, July 26.

At around 6.15 am, the arrival quick reaction team (QRT) noticed a small black pouch lying unattended during an area sweep. The information was immediately conveyed to the security operations control centre (SOCC), following which the pouch was checked by the dog/BDDS team. The check yielded a negative report.

Upon opening the pouch, CISF personnel found a passport belonging to Nishal Shahik, an iPhone, a gold ring, 500 Dirhams, $10,000 (approximately Rs 9 lac), a boarding pass, and bank cards. 

CCTV footage revealed that the passenger had already left the airport premises. Using the details available on the boarding pass, CISF personnel traced the passenger's contact number through the airline and immediately informed him that he had left his pouch containing valuables at the airport.

The pouch belonged to Nishal Shahik, who had arrived in Mangaluru from Dubai by Air India Express flight IX 814, which landed at around 5.05 am.

The passenger subsequently returned to the airport. After proper verification and necessary formalities, the pouch and its contents were handed over to the rightful owner, and the details were recorded in the register.

Appreciating the prompt action and efforts of the CISF personnel, the passenger later expressed his gratitude by posting a video message praising the CISF team.
