Mumbai, Nov 4: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday, hours after being discharged from Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune, where he had been undergoing medical observation and tests.

His daughter and Baramati MP Supriya Sule confirmed his admission in a social media post.

The 85-year-old veteran politician was admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic on November 2 after complaining of cough and pleuritic chest pain. He was discharged on Wednesday and shifted to Mumbai for further medical tests.

Following his admission to the Pune hospital, Sule had said that Pawar was undergoing medical investigations and that his health parameters were stable.

Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Pawar over the phone to enquire about his health. Pawar's aide Vitthal Maniyar said the Prime Minister advised the veteran leader to take complete rest.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Pawar saheb this morning to enquire about his health. He spoke to him with great affection and respect and requested him to take complete rest. Modi told him that Supriya (Sule) was now ready and she and others would take care of the country, while Pawar saheb should rest," Maniyar told reporters.

According to the aide, Pawar thanked Modi for his concern and said he was resting and had no worries about the country, as others were there to take care of matters.

Dr Purvez K Grant, chief cardiologist, chairman and managing trustee of Ruby Hall Clinic, had earlier said Pawar was admitted for a general check-up and medical observation following complaints of pleuritic pain.

Pleuritic pain is a form of chest pain that generally worsens while breathing, coughing or sneezing.
