Dharashiv, Jul 26: A 16-year-old boy was allegedly abducted in Maharashtra's Dharashiv district over a dispute related to advance payment for sugarcane harvesting work, prompting police to register a case against four persons from neighbouring Beed district.

The incident was reported from Palasp village in Dharashiv taluk, where the accused allegedly assaulted the minor before forcibly taking him away.

According to the complaint, the accused had been demanding that the family either return the advance payment received for sugarcane harvesting work or report for work. They allegedly abducted the boy after insisting, "Return the advance money or come for work."

Police said the accused later called the boy's mother and allegedly threatened her, saying, "Pay the money and take your son back, otherwise we will not release him."

Based on the complaint, Dhoki Police have registered a case against a labour contractor (mukadam) and three others from Beed district under charges including kidnapping and other relevant provisions of law.

The incident has created concern in the area, with police launching an investigation to trace the accused and rescue the minor.
