Mumbai, Mar 23: A Eshwarayya, ‘Karnataka Kalashree Award’ recipient, has been chosen for the ‘Dr Sunita M Shetty Literary Award–2012’ by the jury of the Karnataka Sangh that has been conferring the Award for extraordinary contributions in the literary sphere in the country.

The Award comprises cash of Rs 10,000, citation letter, memento, and public honour. The award ceremony will be held during the valedictory function of the seventh literary cultural convention to be held on Saturday March 24 and Sunday March 25.
A Eshwarayya:
Eshwarayya is a multi-faceted personality who has contributed significantly to the social, media, and cultural sphere. He hails from Anantapur in Kasargod district, Kerala, and has done his early schooling from Navjeevan High School, Peradala, Kasargod. He is a graduate in English literature from M G M College, Udupi.
Eshwarayya began his career working as editor of a Kannada magazine published by ‘Udayavani’ in 1972. He was appointed as founder editor of ‘Tushara’, Kannada monthly magazine, in 1973. He also served as senior editor of Kannada daily ‘Udayavani’ from 1988 to 2007 and has been serving as editor of ‘Ragadhanashree’ journal since 2008. He is the son of A Narayanayya and Venkatalakshamma and resides in Udupi town.
Eshwarayya is the founder president of the Focal Photography Club in Udupi and has contributed his articles and critiques on music that are published in both Kannada and English dailies. He has authored ‘Sarasa’, collection of articles, translated in many languages and a TV serial was also produced.
He has bagged numerous award including the ‘Polya Yakshagana Award’, ‘Parashurama Award’, ‘Alva’s Nudisiri Award’, and ‘Krishnanugraha Award’, to name a few.
