Udupi, Jul 29: To celebrate the profound milestone of his 90th birthday and honour his remarkable artistic journey, Daddyz Art Gallery, in association with Udupi Konkans and Daijiworld, will organise a special art competition and exhibition dedicated to renowned artist Peter A Lewis. The competition and volunteering opportunities are exclusively for participants from Udupi district.  

The event will be held on Sunday, August 9, at the Anugraha Pastoral Centre in Kakkunje, Udupi.

Event details and schedule

The art competition will revolve around the theme, "He has made everything beautiful in its time" (Ecclesiastes 3:11). The contest is divided into three age categories: 12 years and under (A4 canvas size), 13 to 24 years (A3 canvas), and 25 years and above (A3 canvas). While the organisers will provide the canvas sheets, participants are required to bring their own art materials, including paints, brushes, and pencils.

Enrolment will commence at 9:30 am at the venue, followed by the competition from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. Lunch will be provided at 1:30 pm.

Following the lunch break, a live auction featuring the artworks of Peter A Lewis and the participants will be held. The paintings that secure the top five highest bids across all categories will be exhibited until 3 pm on Wednesday, August 12.

The award ceremony will take place on August 12 at 4 pm.

Registration details

The deadline for artist registrations is August 2. Participants must sign up through the official website (https://daddyzart.com) to receive an artist reference number, which will be used to ensure the auction remains anonymous and fair. Volunteers who wish to help can also register online.

Through his expansive canvases, meticulous compositions, and dedication to mentoring fellow creators, his footprint on the artistic landscape remains deeply inspiring.
