Panaji, Aug. 2: A 19-year-old youth from Margao was killed after the car he was travelling in crashed and caught fire on NH-66 near Sainik Aram Ghar in the early hours of Saturday, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Yash Mehta, a resident of Margao.
According to Agasaim Police Inspector Anant Gaonkar, the car was being driven by 18-year-old Harsh Jain, who was travelling from Panaji towards Goa-Velha.

Police said the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, which rammed into a crash barrier before veering onto the service road. The impact of the collision caused the car to catch fire.
Of the three occupants in the vehicle, two managed to escape, while Mehta became trapped inside the burning car.
He was later rescued and rushed to Goa Medical College (GMC), where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the accident.
