Panaji, Aug 10: The old handicrafts building at Reis Magos has been demolished to make way for a new ground-plus-one structure aimed at providing a modern and dedicated space for local artisans and women entrepreneurs.

Saligao MLA Kedar Naik inspected the ongoing work and took the initiative to facilitate the reconstruction of the handicrafts building.

Naik said the new facility would create opportunities for women to showcase their skills, promote traditional crafts and build sustainable livelihoods.

The new handicrafts building will provide a dedicated platform for local artisans, particularly women entrepreneurs, to display and sell their traditional products. The facility is expected to encourage entrepreneurship, strengthen local businesses and provide artisans with greater visibility.

Naik said development should not focus only on infrastructure but also create opportunities for people to become economically independent.

He said the project aims to support the skills and entrepreneurial spirit of local women while preserving Goa's rich handicraft traditions.

Naik added that the initiative would help women turn their traditional skills into sustainable sources of income, enabling them to build businesses, improve their livelihoods and achieve financial independence.
