Bollywood Celebrities Join Hands with Cricket to Fight Hunger in RCL Season 4

Bollywood celebrities are coming together with cricket for a social cause as the fourth season of the Restaurant Cricket League (RCL Season 4) prepares to bring together entertainment, cricket and the fight against hunger. The tournament will not only feature celebrities and people from different sections of society, but will also connect the runs scored on the field with meals for people in need.

The key idea behind RCL Season 4 is the '10 Runs = 100 Meals' model. Under this initiative, every 10 runs scored during the tournament will be linked to meals for 100 people. RCL is being organised in association with the Hunger Free Bharat campaign, giving the cricket event a clear social purpose.

This means that while fans will follow the scores and performances during the matches, they will also be able to see how those runs contribute to the meal count. With Bollywood personalities, cricketers and participants from different sections of society coming together, RCL Season 4 is aiming to use the popularity of cricket to spread the message against hunger and food waste.

After Three Seasons, Preparations Are Underway for the Fourth Edition

RCL started in 2023. Over the last three seasons, efforts have been made to connect cricket with issues such as food availability and food waste. Now, in the fourth season, the same initiative is being taken forward in a more organised manner.

The fourth season of the Restaurant Cricket League is scheduled to be held from October 22 to 25, 2026, at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi. The four-day event will feature cricket along with programmes related to food and culture. Different types of food stalls are also planned at the venue, giving spectators an experience that combines matches, food and entertainment.

How Will the 100 Meals for Every 10 Runs Model Work?

RCL Season 4 has connected cricket runs with a food initiative.

In cricket, runs show a batter's performance and a team's total score. However, in the Restaurant Cricket League, these same runs are being connected with an initiative to provide meals to people in need.

Under the tournament's model, every 10 runs will be linked to 100 meals. This means that if both teams score a combined 300 runs in a match, the game can contribute towards 3,000 meals. In this way, as the number of runs increases during a match, the potential number of meals will also increase.

RCL's initiative is also an extension of the efforts made during the previous season. According to the organisers, more than 2.16 lakh meals had been distributed under the campaign by April 2026, while a commitment of 2.30 lakh meals had been made. The campaign also claims to have impacted more than 3 lakh people.

How Will RCL Season 4 Progress Across 16 Matches?

The RCL Season 4 schedule also takes this model forward. The fourth season will begin on October 22, with a total of 16 matches planned.

The first three days will feature 12 league-stage matches, with four matches scheduled each day. The first match will begin at 10 AM, followed by the second match at 1:30 PM. The third match will be played at 5 PM, while another match is scheduled for 8 PM.

According to the organisers' estimate, around 300 runs could be scored in a match. Based on this calculation, one match could contribute towards around 3,000 meals. Therefore, the four matches on the opening day could potentially contribute towards around 12,000 meals.

The meal count will be calculated live based on the runs scored during the matches. According to the organisers, this figure will also be verified by Hunger Free Bharat. This means that along with the regular match score, the meal count will also keep updating during the match.

The Journey Will Continue Through the Semi-Finals and Final

On October 25, RCL's fourth season will enter its decisive stage. Two semi-final matches between the top four teams are scheduled to be played in the morning, while the final will take place at night. Two teams will face each other in the final for the title. Before that, celebrity matches will also be organised.

The runs scored in these matches will also be added to the tournament's overall meal count. Therefore, the final will not only be important from the point of view of the trophy, but will also take the season's overall meal count forward.

For the entire tournament, the organisers have estimated more than 45,000 meals. However, this will not be the final figure, as the actual number will depend on the total runs scored throughout the season.

Another important aspect of this model is that even after a team's journey ends, the runs scored by its players will not go to waste. While the team's position on the points table may not improve further, the runs scored by its players will continue to contribute to the food initiative.

Different Sections of Society Will Take Part in RCL Season 4

This season, the initiative is not limited to people connected with cricket and entertainment. One of the special features of the tournament is that people whose daily lives are far removed from the cricket field will also get an opportunity to play.

According to information shared by the organisers of the Restaurant Cricket League, people ranging from farmers and chefs to Delhi Police personnel will be part of the event.

The Delhi Police's Sewa Warriors team has also joined the tournament. According to the official information, the team will carry forward the message of creating awareness against food waste while supporting the objective of Hunger Free Bharat.

Apart from this, the Indian women's deaf cricket team and a team representing the transgender community are also proposed to take part. There is also information about a team from Nepal led by chef Ratna Tamang.

Rakesh Bedi Will Captain Superstars 11

Talking about the entertainment industry, actor Rakesh Bedi will captain Superstars 11. His team will represent the presence of people from the film and entertainment industry at the event.

Several people from the film industry, including Raza Murad, Sunil Pal, Bindu Dara Singh, Shahbaz Khan and Arun Bakshi, were also present during the announcement of the RCL season.

Former Indian cricketer Atul Wasan is also associated with the initiative. He believes that cricket usually revolves around runs, records and averages, but in RCL, the same runs can become a way to provide meals to people in need.

His team will represent the part of RCL Season 4 where people from the film and entertainment industry will be seen on the cricket field. However, this team will play only an exhibition match.

Why This Cricket-Based Initiative Matters

If RCL Season 4 is seen only as celebrity cricket, the story will remain incomplete. The event does have film personalities, but at the same time, farmers, chefs, police personnel, deaf cricket players and people from other communities are also part of it.

This means RCL is trying to make cricket a medium of interaction between different sections of society. By connecting the issue of food with cricket, the event has taken up a subject that has a direct connection with the lives of common people.

After all, runs in cricket remain on the scoreboard for only a few hours, but if those same runs help provide meals to people in need, their importance can continue even after the match ends. The action is for four days but the impact continues throughout the year.
