Mangaluru: St Dominic Church Ashoknagar celebrates patron feast with devotion

Mangaluru, Aug 13: The parish community of St Dominic Church, Ashoknagar, celebrated the feast of its patron saint, St Dominic de Guzmán, with great devotion and spiritual fervour on Sunday, August 9.

The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr Walter D'Souza, vicar forane of the Episcopal City Deanery and parish priest of St Sebastian Church, Bendur, who was the main celebrant.

In his sermon, Fr Walter reflected on the theme 'St Dominic, Witness to God’s Identity'. He highlighted the life and mission of St Dominic, who dedicated himself wholeheartedly to proclaiming the truth of the Gospel and witnessing to God's love through his life. He encouraged the faithful to follow the example of St Dominic by becoming authentic witnesses of Christ in their families, workplaces and society.

The celebration provided an opportunity for the parish community to renew its commitment to faith, prayer and Christian witness, inspired by the life and mission of its patron saint. At the conclusion of the Holy Mass, the faithful were given the special blessing with the relic of St Dominic. The blessing was received with deep reverence and devotion, bringing the solemn celebration to a prayerful conclusion. The feast celebration served as a joyful reminder of St Dominic’s enduring legacy and his call to proclaim the Gospel with faith, courage and love.
