Kadaba, Aug 15: Uppinangady police have registered a case against nine persons following a complaint by 18-year-old Faiza, a resident within the Uppinangady police station limits, alleging that she and others were intercepted, verbally abused and assaulted at Konalu Kolpe in Kadaba.
According to the complaint, Faiza returned home by car with three acquaintances — Sipnan, Zahir and Safiya — after completing work on August 12. After dropping Faiza at her residence, the other three proceeded towards Kadaba.

When they reached Konalu Kolpe, the accused — Jabir, Siddique, Unais, Ramshiq, Shamshuddin, Jafar, Ashith, Achuru alias Ashraf and Ashraf Kolpe — allegedly wrongfully intercepted them and abused them using obscene language.
When Faiza arrived at the spot, the accused allegedly abused her, Jamal and Faiza’s younger sister in filthy language and assaulted them.
Based on the complaint, Uppinangady police registered a case under Sections 189(2), 191(2), 126(2), 352, 115(2) and 351(2), with Section 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police said an investigation is under way.
