Beltangady: Illegal sand transport detected, case registered

Beltangady, Aug 20: Dharmasthala police detected a pickup vehicle allegedly transporting sand illegally at the Charmadi checkpost and registered a case against the driver.

During a routine inspection, police signalled a pickup vehicle bearing registration number KA 21 B 0593, which was travelling from Kakkinge towards Charmadi, to stop. The driver stopped the vehicle and fled the spot.

Police found 30 baskets of sand in the vehicle.

A case has been registered against Fayaz, a resident of Beethige in Charmadi village, and an investigation is underway.
