Bengaluru, Aug 21: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an important weather warning for Karnataka, forecasting thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds and heavy rain in various parts of the state till August 24.
In coastal Karnataka, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts are expected to receive moderate rainfall at several places, accompanied by winds reaching speeds of around 30 to 40 kmph. Similar conditions, with moderate rain and strong winds, are expected to continue in parts of north interior Karnataka.
In Bengaluru, according to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy, with moderate rain in some areas and winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph.

The maximum temperature in Bengaluru is expected to be around 30 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 21 degrees Celsius. The city received 3.1 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, while relative humidity was recorded at 85% at 8.30 am.
In the Malnad region, particularly the ghat areas of Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga and Hassan districts, good rainfall has been reported, with water levels rising in some rivers, streams and other water bodies.
However, from June 1 until now, Karnataka has received around 431 mm of rainfall against the normal 623 mm, resulting in an overall rainfall deficit of 31%. Monsoon activity is expected to become more active in the coming days in coastal and some interior parts of the state.
In Dakshina Kannada district, sunny and cloudy conditions are expected, along with one or two spells of normal rainfall. However, as the cloud movement is from northwest to southeast, intermittent rainfall is likely in Sullia and Kadaba taluks.
In Kasargod district, sunny conditions with partly cloudy skies and one or two spells of normal rainfall are forecast. Around Hebri and Karkala in Udupi district, cloudy weather with one or two spells of normal rainfall is expected.
