Student dies after accidentally falling into well during Onam celebrations in Kasargod

Kasargod, Aug 29: Amid the festive atmosphere of Onam celebrations, a 15-year-old student died after accidentally falling into an uncovered well at Chimeni near Kanhangad in Kasargod district.

The deceased has been identified as Sanoop (15), son of Dhanesh of Anakadi in Kodakkad, within the jurisdiction of the Chimeni police station.

The incident occurred on Thursday night.

Sanoop was attending an Onam programme at night when he went outside with his classmates. During this time, he accidentally fell into an uncovered well located nearby. Police and fire and rescue personnel reached the spot and pulled him out.

He was immediately taken to MIMS Hospital in Kannur for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries on Friday evening.

Sanoop was a class 10 student at Thimiri Kuttammathu Government Higher Secondary School.
