Bengaluru, Aug 30: The state government's flagship 'Gruha Lakshmi' guarantee scheme has successfully completed three years of implementation on Sunday, August 30.

To commemorate the milestone, prominent historic and administrative landmarks across the state will be illuminated in pink light from 6 pm to 10 pm. The government has chosen pink for the illumination as a symbol of women's pride and empowerment.

The illuminated structures will include the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru, Suvarna Soudha and Kittur Chennamma Circle in Belagavi, Mysuru Palace, Chitradurga Fort, the Stone Chariot in Hampi, and the Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner's office building in Mangaluru.

Launched by the Congress-led state government on August 30, 2023, the scheme provides a monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,000 to the woman head of every eligible family to help them lead an independent and self-reliant life.

According to the women and child development department, more than Rs 76,500 crore has been deposited into the bank accounts of 1.20 crore beneficiaries across the state since the scheme's inception.
